Welcome Aboard Ryan Motter!
From Rev Clay Stauffer...
As many of you know, Ryan Motter has served as a ministerial
intern here at Woodmont since last August. In his short time with
us, he has worked in a variety of areas including youth, worship,
small groups, evangelism, and young adults. Ryan's natural gifts
and passion for ministry have become evident over the past nine
months, and we have been very blessed to have him as one of our
interns this year at our church.
In January, Ryan's internship shifted from youth ministry to
focus more on evangelism, small, groups, and our new young adult
ministry. The majority of his attention and energy has been directed
towards the very fast-growing young adult ministry which started
with a core group of 15 individuals and has now grown to almost
80 participating young adults in just three months. The ministry
includes a Bible study on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month
at Campbell West, a Sunday School class in the board room that
is taught by Dr. Rob Quinn at 9:45 a.m., the Woodmont social club
led by Chaz Tippins and Brad Northcutt, coed basketball on Thursday
nights, multiple service opportunities, and a variety of other
activities. College and Young Adult ministry is an area that is
often overlooked by many churches, but we have identified it as
a vital ministry for the future growth of Woodmont. We are very
excited about the tremendous growth in this area to the extent
that we have decided to add a part-time ministry position to our
staff to ensure that this group is receiving the attention and
resources that it needs to continue to grow and thrive.
Last week, after a thorough interview, we extended a call to
Ryan to join our ministerial staff as our new minister of College,
Young Adults, and Evangelism. He has accepted the call and will
transition from his current internship to a part-time staff position
on May 1st. His responsibilities will include continuing to minister
to this age group by planning and leading the current Bible studies
on the first and third Tuesday night of the month, providing counseling
for our young adults, establishing an effective college ministry
to reach undergraduate and graduate students on local campuses
(Vandy, Belmont, Lipscomb, etc.), helping lead worship on Sunday
mornings, working with the evangelism and hospitality ministry
of our church, organizing ongoing mission and social opportunities,
and working with the senior minister to begin the planning of
a fourth worship service that will be geared for this age group
beginning in the fall of 2009 on Sunday evenings. Currently, Ryan
is already carrying out many of these responsibilities and we
look forward to continued success in this area as his weekly hours
here at Woodmont increase.
Ryan is a native of Kansas City, MO and a graduate of Texas
Christian University. He is currently working on his Master of
Divinity at Vanderbilt and plans to graduate in May of 2010. I
hope you will join me in officially welcoming Ryan onto our church
staff.
