The “WHY” Behind Our Vision & Master Plan

As we continue to roll out our vision and master plan for the future, I want to invite you to a special presentation on Wednesday evening, September 17, at 6:15 in Carpenter Chapel. Hasting Architecture Firm will be present to make a presentation. Dinner will be served before. Many churches are very good at the “What” and “How” of ministry, but I want all of us to understand “WHY” we are moving towards this important vision in the coming years. Here are the primary reasons WHY:
• Healthy churches are always visioning and planning for the future. Bold leadership matters in this process.
• We want to maximize our beautiful campus by developing the Campbell West portion of our property (2.3 acres west). This is really the only place to enlarge our footprint and expand our facility.
• We want to heavily invest in our children’s, youth, and family ministries for the future as they continue to grow and thrive. Additional space is needed for this to happen.
• We want to provide adequate parking for our worship services on Sunday mornings. Currently, we are unable to do that at the earlier hour with all the people we have on campus.
• We want to build a new home base to keep growing our youth ministries as more of our kids are now moving up into middle and high school.
• We want to free up some current space so that our children’s ministry can continue to grow. We have over 500 children (nursery-5th grade) registered so far this fall which is incredible.
• We want to build a full-size gymnasium to take pressure off Drowota Hall. This will enhance all of our ministries and recreational activities. This multi-use space can also be used for worship, speakers, and special events.
• We want to build a Connection Café for people to gather both on Sunday mornings and throughout the week. This will open onto a beautiful green space between the buildings where church events can be held.
• We wholeheartedly believe that Woodmont has even more potential and we are making intentional plans to keep the momentum going.
Laying out a vision and master plan takes planning, courage, and resources. Many people will try to give you reasons why it cannot happen. Many of the space challenges we currently have at Woodmont are indeed “good challenges,” but we have done extensive visioning to try to solve these. We are currently working diligently to find new locations for the ministries that currently utilize Campbell West, and we still have some time to do this.
Please join us on Wednesday night, September 17, to hear more information. We are very excited about what the future of our church will be! Together in faith, we can continue to do big things!
