Generous Hearts

We are now in the heart of our spring stewardship campaign with the theme “Generous Hearts.” Paul writes in II Corinthians 9: “Those who sow sparingly will also reap sparingly; those who sow generously will also reap generously…the Lord loves a cheerful giver.” I am grateful to the Barretts and Harrisons for their leadership.
During the month of April, we are asking all of our members to make a financial commitment to support Woodmont for another year. This campaign is what funds the basic ministries and operations of the church. Here are some of the reasons that we are called to give generously to the church:
• Generosity is a significant part of being a faithful Christian.
• Generosity is a spiritual discipline, practice, and a form of worship.
• Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 7)
• Together, our church can continue to spread Christ’s love to a hurting world.
• The church is always dependent on the ongoing support of its members to function and operate.
• Annual commitments allow us to responsibly set the operating budget in May to ensure fiscal strength.
• Giving our financial resources away is a blessing to the giver.
• Giving allows Woodmont to remain heavily involved in mission and outreach in the community and in the world.
This past Sunday, one of our long-time members and life elders, Dr. Gene Regen, turned 95 years old. Gene and his late wife, Elizabeth, have been pillars of leadership and generosity over the years. Gene certainly understands how important the ongoing ministries of Woodmont are. Now, halfway through his tenth decade of life, Gene continues to support this church in generous ways. He is a prime example of somebody who believes wholeheartedly in the mission and ministries of Woodmont. He knows the impact the church is making.
Between now and April 27, we are humbly asking for your support. Every single commitment allows us to move our church forward into the future. Every single commitment matters. Woodmont is a vibrant and healthy church that is changing lives daily. We continue to be a beacon of hope for this community. We are very grateful for the many generous hearts that make our mission possible!
